So are the days of my life! And let me tell you, life has gotten very busy!!! Most days I wake up only to realize the day is over and I have no idea what I did! It’s rather frightening, I’m not going to lie. But, even so, they are good days, for the most part. I think it’s time for an update….so here goes!
Before Abi was born we were worried about some test results that said she would be a high risk for Down’s syndrome. I am very happy to report she is totally fine. She was born very healthy and happy. It’s hard to believe she is 7 weeks old already! There are huge differences between her and her big brother however. Caleb was very sick when he was born until he was almost 3 months old. When he was born he didn’t make a sound and was grey for a long time (cute but grey) Abi let the world know she was here as soon as she could. After less than 24 hours in the NICU we were released from the hospital 2 days after she was born. She is eating fine and already laughs and smiles. She’s in good shape :o)
Caleb has had his own struggles the past 2 years… his inability to communicate with us made things very stressful. Well, he is learning his signing very well and we get along much better! In September he started Discovery Pre-School where he is with 5 other communication needs kids and 6 community kids. Since he has started there he is starting to start communication with us where before it wouldn’t happen. In fact, the past week he has actually started saying some words and working on sounding out words letter by letter…HUGE leap forward! On halloween he said Tattoo as he showed us one he got in school on his arm and just today said (not signed) thank you. He also says Mum, DA, Mim (that’s what he calls Gramma Mary and his aunt!) and hello. It is very warming to my heart to hear him babble as well (stuff he should have been doing before he turned 1) So we are encouraged that he will be talking soon…but we work on more signs until then. They have been a life line for keeping all our stress levels way down!
In all of this I can see God working. Providing an opening for Caleb at school, Abi healthy and happy, our house working out…God is amazingly good in ALL things..even when they feel so terrible to take! Thank you to everyone who has been and continues to pray for and with us. I look forward to everything He has in store over the coming years.
Until next time!
